The SLOC lives in an underground missile silo, and has the ability to transmute into a pungent-smelling, slimy liquid form, oozing through the air conditioning system for fun at the weekends. Occasionally he ventures into the outside world by night to hunt & gather fine snax from the local delicatessen.
Andrew Milbank (Exxon) became interested in music at the end of the 80’s with bands like The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays catching his imagination, from this he graduated through grunge with bands such as Nirvana & Mudhoney and onto old skool hardcore with the early releases by Acen, Ragga Twins and Krome & Time catching his ear.
Exxon began DJing in 1998 by which time he was fully focused on drum & bass, but it was only a move to Reading in 1999 and a meeting with Strike when Exxon was promoting nights at Reading University that led to him being introduced to all of the Streetbeats crew.
Since then he has gone on to co-promote the Streetbeats label nights Subversive, Beatjam and Advance as well as industry events at Cargo in London, has broadcast succesful internet radio shows on phuturefrequency.com and currently on jungletrain.net as well as DJing B2B with Strike and in his own right in the UK and Europe. Exxon has now moved in to label management with other members of Streetbeats to form the hotly anticipated Transmute Recordings.
Mattrick has been making music for over 20 years, working with loads of interesting people along the way. Starting with hip-hop and electro, he’s tried his hand at electro-punk, indie emo crooning, techno, “idm”, and drum n bass. Recently Mattrick has been working on more techno, trying his hand at dubstep, and really getting into ambient / drone / minimalist classical territories. He builds his own sound generators and processors using both hardware and software, but still loves the simplicity of Reason.
In 2004 Mattrick started the ::subtext:: show on www.bassdrive.com, and now gets around 1000 listeners each time he’s on the air. This is an excellent way to test out new tracks and get feedback from an amazingly diverse global audience. His DJ style is biased towards the deep end of the spectrum, focusing on rich, interesting grooves and style rather than simple dancefloor beats fighting moronic synth lines.
As Genetic Sequence, Mattrick has had releases on John B’s Nu Electro label, Formula Inc, Sequential and Transmute. Along with MC Manikular, he was one of the founders of HQ™, Oxford’s classiest dnb monthly. He has been a resident at Anger’s Therapy Sessions in London and Bristol, and has DJ’d worldwide. As part of being a label manager for Transmute, Matt is responsible for the label’s artwork and website.
Strike is a keen fan of Tottenham Hotspur FC and enjoys writing Klingon poetry. He has a flair for catching falling rabbits with his teeth, and hates rattlesnakes.
